These are schools built using Green building and ecological design principles and techniques. These schools consume less energy, water and materials and produce less waste making them efficient and healthier environments in which to learn. Pupils can learn about sustainability both in the classroom and from their first-hand experience of how their schools are run.
We plan to introduce environmental studies and ecology as a part of the curriculum and develop facilities that are friendly to the global environment in all processes, not only in planning and construction, but also in energy consumption during operation and in updating/dismantling facilities.
“We wish to echo the ethos of the ‘Ecological Schoolyard movement ’- outdoor learning environments that teach ecological principles through the design of the schoolyard landscape. This can substantially improve the appearance of school grounds while creating hands-on resources that allow teachers to lead exciting "fieldtrips" without ever leaving school property.”
